With his striking dark mahogany red coat, athletic build, and friendly temperament, Ghillie represents the best qualities of the field-bred Irish Setter. He comes from a championship bloodline with excellent health records and conforms to all breed standards. A 3-year-old AKC purebred with a Junior Hunter title (JH), Ghillie has a powerful and eager bird-hunting drive, a natural pointing instinct, easy trainability and an energetic, rollicking personality.

Health, Temperament, Drive, Energy Level, and Trainability
Ghillie is in excellent health, as confirmed by Lakeview Veterinary Clinic, Madison, WI. He has a strong prey drive, enthusiastic and reliable recall, and a playfully affectionate temperament, making him an ideal home companion and hunting partner. Ghillie has stamina to last hours of hunting pheasant and grouse in the most challenging pheasant habitat of southern Wisconsin and grouse management forests of northern Wisconsin and Minnesota. He has an athletic, muscular build and striking mahogony coat, with a matching drive to find birds, true to his field-bred championship bloodlines. When at home, at least an hour of daily outdoor exercise to channel this energy and drive is needed. He is affectionate and playful, preferring to stay close to others--he loves to lean in close. He has very reliable recall in the field, and is a quick learner with inquisitiveness and an eagerness to please, making him easy to train and handle. His professional hunting trainers at Dale Creek Gun Dogs, attest to their enjoyment working with him. Socialization: Ghillie loves being with other dogs, playing at all levels of intensity, with a keen sense of what other dogs want. He is cautious with small children and people who he has not met before. Once he trusts them he becomes very affectionate and playful.
